I was born on 12th December 1972 at Hazebrouck Hospital near Lille, and grew up in Northern France.

My father, Robert, was a road engineer at the French Department of Transport in Lille and my mother, Marguerite, was an assistant in a local accountancy firm. My father fell seriously ill when I was a teenager, and died in 2000.

The young me grew up surrounded by books. My brother and sister being years older than me, and my father working away during the week, I filled the hours reading about the world, and the universe,

I studied a masters degree in Environmental Engineering at Strasbourg University, and my course included a year in England. This is where my interest for the English language grew considerably. I love how you can paint a picture with so few words.

After my degree, I worked and lived in Haïti for a year and a half. There, in one of the poorest countries in the world, I witnessed some fairly cruel human behaviours, but also some of the kindest. It makes you wonder how human nature is capable of such extremes.

When my contract overseas ended, I moved back to England and worked for various consultancies. Then my childhood dream took over, and I became an airline pilot. I graduated from Oxford Aviation Training, and flew a number of years for a major European airline.

I was diagnosed with a rare neurological condition that ended my flying career early. My increasing inability to cope with every day sounds forced me to spend most of my time indoors, and alone. After the freedom of the open skies, I found myself confined to four walls. This is where my writing flourished.

I live in Salisbury and write mostly short fictions, still in the language that seduced me twenty five years ago.

Acknowledgements

Stories come to life through the author, but also thanks to the help of talented people.

I would like to thank Jayne Woodhouse – teacher, writer, playwright – for offering warm and friendly Creative Writing Courses in Salisbury, and for her generous support, continuing input and encouragement with my writing.

Also a big thank you to Louise Walters – editor, writer, publisher. I have so many praises for her professional editing services, and if I should pick one, it would be that ‘not one stone is left unturned’.

To Morven Surmon – health practitioner and painter – for her consistent support through light and darkness, helping me to manage my medical conditions, and perhaps one day find a cure.

To André at RoughPIxels – WordPress theme creator – for his unlimited patience with my never ending queries while developing this website.

All my thanks to friends and family, for helping in the way they can.

And finally, Loveday, for believing, through thick and thin.
